No. 36 - The 73" Chariot Standing, Stainless Steel with Drain and Overflow
One of the most elegant of all bathtubs, this Chariot Standing offers a large bathing area with a sit up position. It has excellent depth to overflow for a really deep soak.
This is the beautiful 67” Stainless Steel version. We use a high grade 304 stainless for the exteriors on the Stainless Steel Collection. The cast iron tub is left in its original form as it exits the mold and cleaned of any excess iron scale. We then finish the inside of the tub with thick, bright white enamel before completing the exterior. Onto the raw iron exterior, we apply twelve layers of molten 304 stainless steel. When we apply the stainless steel, it naturally settles slightly unevenly into the cast iron tub exterior.
The stainless steel is not a living finish and will not alter much in appearance over the course of its life. Any marks or stains can be easily removed with a soft, damp cloth.
Our 73” long version of this beautiful Chariot style floor standing bathtub was inspired by the original Chariot tubs manufactured by Rogeat in Lyon, France around the 1850’s. The original was a little narrow for modern bathing expectations and we make ours a little wider. The additional width does not deflect from the beauty of the original piece. This 73” version is perfect for larger individual bathers and will also be excellent for two bathers.

We finish by sanding down the exterior before lightly polishing for a natural grey steel appearance. The stainless steel finish is muted relatively subdued and not highly polished like our other, more exotic finishes.
