No. 46 - The 73" Chariot Standing, Polished Pewter with Drain and Overflow

$13,995.00

One of the most elegant of all bathtubs, this Chariot Standing offers a large bathing area with a sit up position. It has excellent depth to overflow for a really deep soak.

This is our simply stunning 73” Polished Pewter version. We use a totally lead-free pewter. The cast iron tub is left in its original form as it exits the mold and cleaned of any excess iron scale. We then finish the inside of the tub with thick, bright white enamel before completing the exterior. Onto the raw iron exterior, we apply twelve layers of pure molten pewter.

While still retaining some original cast marks, the pewter is an almost mirror silver raw living finish that may tarnish or darken very slightly over the years. It is very simple to maintain and a wipe with a soft cloth and some soapy water will remove most marks. For more stubborn stains, a soft cloth with some Mothers polish will remove these easily.

Our 73” long version of this beautiful Chariot style floor standing bathtub was inspired by the original Chariot tubs manufactured by Rogeat in Lyon, France around the 1850’s. The original was a little narrow for modern bathing expectations and we make ours a little wider. The additional width does not deflect from the beauty of the original piece. This 73” version is perfect for larger individual bathers and will also be excellent for two bathers

Polished Pewter

We use a totally lead-free pewter for the exteriors on the Pewter Collection. The cast iron tub is left in its original form as it exits the mold and cleaned of any excess iron scale. Since the pewter is applied in a liquid molten form, this allows it to enter all of the cracks, crevices and small cavities that occur naturally during the casting process. This gives each tub its own unique beauty.
