Our inspiration for this beautiful French Bateau (Boat) style bathtub emanated from the original design by Rogeat and a few other European makers from around the 1880’s. Our version is wider and deeper and we produce this tub in two different sizes.

The French Bateau tub has a long bathing floor and ample width with exceptional depth to overflow.

This is our fabulous 73” Polished Pewter version. We use a totally lead-free pewter. The cast iron tub is left in its original form as it exits the mold and cleaned of any excess iron scale. We then finish the inside of the tub with thick, bright white enamel before completing the exterior. Onto the raw iron exterior, we apply twelve layers of pure molten pewter.

While still retaining some original cast marks, the pewter is an almost mirror silver raw living finish that may tarnish or darken very slightly over the years. It is very simple to maintain and a wipe with a soft cloth and some soapy water will remove most marks. For more stubborn stains, a soft cloth with some Mothers polish will remove these easily.

This 73” version French Bateau is perfectly sized for larger, taller bathers and offers exceptional space for two bathers.

Polished Pewter

We use a totally lead-free pewter for the exteriors on the Pewter Collection. The cast iron tub is left in its original form as it exits the mold and cleaned of any excess iron scale. Since the pewter is applied in a liquid molten form, this allows it to enter all of the cracks, crevices and small cavities that occur naturally during the casting process. This gives each tub its own unique beauty.
